I included a Premier League Table at the bottom of the viz, meant to be as close to live as possible. I was really happy with the final product, except for one glaring issue. In a previous post, I introduced my Premier League Team Selection Tool, which used MLB team allegiance to suggest Premier League clubs based on a k-means clustering exercise. The updated approach does a better job handling these situations and can be found here. While the process below works well if you keep your computer on for each scheduled launch daemon, it doesn’t work well for data that needs to be refreshed more regularly or during off-peak hours.
I’ve put together an update to this post that leverages Google Cloud Compute, Google Cloud Scheduler, and cron to truly automate this process. We tried to cover as much as we could for a newbie to get started with using Tableau. I’m very much interested to hear your own success stories with tableau/tableau public, please share in comment section below. Well, I can tell bit more but these 10 points are comprehensive and I feel it would cover the uses of Tableau Pubic in high level. So if you are interested in these then please get in touch with organizing team, help and share your knowledge with Tableau community. I’m so happy to be a part of these sessions and this is an excellent way to enhance my public speaking skills. Recently, I got an opportunity to speak in two of the TUG meetings virtually. Please tag to contest organizers in Twitter to get their feedback. I would highly recommend every one of you to participate in various visualisation challenges like #MakeoverMonday, #SportsVizSunday, #ProjectHealthViz, #Ironquest & #TheSDGVizProject etc.
You can nominate yourself or others for VOTD. BTW, Tableau Public’s “Viz of the Day” is meant to spark data conversations, showcase what’s possible in Tableau, and highlight the work of our community. I’ll learn so many things from this and this is a very good recognition and one of the goal to me and I made it twice.
Tableau selects VOTD on every single day. Again this is not something I’m praising myself, its fact which always makes me happy.
I helped them with interview tips and had given guidance to their job search. I feel proud of myself as I received so many DM from people across community, because they are getting benefited with my work. I inspired from so many people from Tableau community and it’s very hard to tell the names of all of those but I can tell few names of the people( Ken, Kevin, Jeffrey, Chantilly, Lindsay, Toan etc.) where I learned most of the tips in terms of new chart types, design styles, and visual best practice methods. I always prefer to keep my profile link in my CV and this would give a chance to recruiters to have a look into my work and get a better understanding of my visual skills instead of just reading a text in my CV. Tableau Public Profile really helped me 2.5 years ago with my job switch. Fortunately, I saved these scenarios to my tableau public, so I quickly downloaded the dashboard and sorted out the issue. A few years ago, I worked on some complex calculations, and after some time, I came across a similar situation, but I didn’t remember the process/calculations.
This is the number one reason why I prefer Tableau public. Now, I’m going to explain the story with 10 reasons. Every weekday, the Tableau Public team selects one data visualization to be featured as Viz of the Day (VOTD). Tableau Public is a platform where authors can visualize their data and share their work with thousands of like-minded data enthusiasts around the world.
